English Club of Gulistan State University

English Language and Literature Department is the only institution in Syrdarya region preparing specialists on specialty 5120100 – Philology and English Language Teaching.

HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT 

The foreign language department was founded in Sirdarya state pedagogical institute in 1967. The department was headed by Galin Igor Anatolievich, the dean of the faculty was Sultanov Erkin.

In 1968 the department was divided into two departments of foreign languages. From 1975 up to 1986 the department was headed by Egamova Yanglish Egamovna.

In 1980 two departments were joined and dotsent Tadjiev  became the chief of the department.

From 1967 up to 2006 four members of the department defended their theses:

They were:

1.      Egamova Yanglish Egamovna

2.      Tadjiev Khanimkul Tadjievich

3.      Mamajanov Olimjon

4.      Davurbaev O. 

From 2004 up to 2011 the department was headed by Ten Emma Vladimirovna. More then 150 scientific articles were published by the members of the department.

The department consequently leads its work in accordance with the demands of Milliy Dastur of Uzbekistan.

The English Language Department is considered as specialized department of the English language. According to the Decision of State Attestation the students taught in the department obtain bachelor’s degree.

In September 2011, Butayeva Dilbar Hamidovna was appointed the head of the department.

 Scientific Research Activity of the Department

 The problem of the Department: "Continuity of the communicative education using innovation technologies”. The Department makes extension the ideas and works out problems in the sphere of education. Today, as in the past times there is a demand for high qualified people capable of discussing the most actual and problematic vital matters.  The results of great representatives of science are applied in practice by teachers’ staff of the department. At the present time a number of questions are widely spread out concerning learning the English language. In a high speed of the development in various spheres of humanity philologists have to discuss the problems related to new appeared foreign words. During discussion certain problems philologists have to collaborate with other science and discuss in collaboration with other higher education institutions. The Department closely collaborates with World Languages

State University of Uzbekistan, Samarqand State Foreign Languages University, Goethe Institute, British Council and others. The department has a  library supplied with educational materials such as new techniques in methodical appliances and books of new technologies.

Educational aids have audio and video cassettes and discs. Moreover, the department includes audio and video classes equipped with necessary educational facilities.

 INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT

The department cooperates with leading foreign institutions that are hosted by our country. Namely, the department has close relations with British Council (Great Britain), Goethe Institut (Germany), and German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD, Germany).

As a result of cooperation with DAAD teacher of the department Mamatova M. Took part in the seminar hold in September 2011 in Samarqand, and teachers Hatamova S.M. and Tojiboyeva Sh. took part in the competition organized by DAAD on theme "German Language as a foreign language for jurists and economists” and became honored winners.

 AUDIO-VIDEO LABORATORY OF THE DEPARTMENT 

The laboratory is open for all the students of the department who are interested in developing their speech skills and being involved in creative works, students also prepare visual and audio aids for the secondary schools and special secondary education institutions of the region.

Audio-video laboratory is equiped with 14 TV sets, 14 video players, 14 audio players and 1 projector. This equipment enable students to practice and develop their speaking and listening speeches.

Nowadays students are working on the project named "Electronic multimedia program for kindergarten” by D. Butayeva.

LIBRARY OF THE DEPARTMENT

      Library of the department is one of the biggest library funds in the region. Here one can find literature and other sources on economics, science, physics, and other sciences.

The library estimates 1.500 books, periodicals, text-books and manual on different subjects. Materials of the library are presented mostly by Peace Corps (USA), Goethe Institut (Germany) and British Council (Britain).
